Rotary Club of Chadstone East Malvern

President’s Patter 15th February 2017

The Craft Market at Phoenix Park came together well thanks to the input of all those who gave their time and effort. It was a quieter day than we anticipated however the positive spirit of working together – members with stall holders, stall holders with stall holders; never wanes. A special thanks this time around to Christina who again arrived with all her crockery, cutlery, napery, kitchen appliances, and ingredients. Her scones, jam and cream are always a winner.

Paul, Tania and their team members left for Cambodia early Sunday, we look forward to hearing from them. Alick is arranging a working bee at The Good Life Farm, Chum Creek – not far of Healesville for Saturday 18th Feb. Please call him if you can attend.

This coming Wednesday night will be a planning night for our Family Fun Day at Central Park on March 26th led by Team Leader Chris. I am hoping to also secure a speaker to tell us about a very special local community program called Jocare.

See you Wednesday!

Cheers for now

Judy

As mentioned at the last meeting we have a working bee scheduled at the Good Life Farm this Saturday 18th Feb from 9:00am until nominally 2:30pm at the farm.

If you are able to make it please let me know.

You will need to bring a decent pair of work boots, a hat, a pair of gloves and a tin of elbow grease each!.

At this stage the forecast for Saturday looks cool with a couple of showers possible so something warm and a raincoat may not go astray.

We will have sunscreen, bug spray, water and a first aid kit.

We will also arrange to have some food to keep us going through the morning and a few snags for lunch.

The farm is located at 568 Chum Creek Road, Chum Creek VIC 3777

This is about 10 minutes north of Healesville. We will need to allow 1.25 hours for the drive.

I am happy to take one carload - for those who want a lift with me I was planning to leave from the coffee shop in Taylor Street Ashburton (opposite Solway school and there is parking there) by 7:30.

The coffee shop website says it is open from 7am so if you get there then I will shout you a coffee!

We can discuss the logistics and agree cars and meeting points on Wednesday night.

Fencing, fellowship and frivolity - does it get any better than that ?!

Kind regards

Alick

Some of our biggest fundraising activities at the Family Fun Day requires donations from members, friends and supporters.  This year Janet has kindly accepted the responsibility of managing the Silent Auction while Tania will be busy putting together the hampers.  Donations of goods and vouchers will be accepted all the way up to the day.  However, these activities take a lot of planning and work.  Both Tania and Janet would appreciate  receiving  items as soon as possible.  Contact Janet or Tania to discuss how you can help.

Mel has the task of coordinating resources for the various stalls and activities at the Family Fun Day.

If you will be unavailable for part or all of the 26th March, please advise Mel via email mgra2929@bigpond.net.au ASAP.

Don't forget to ask the services of partners or interested friends.
