Annual Sleeping out Rough Night

Next >

This month we held our 3rd annual Sleeping out Rough Night in Central Park.  This year we were fortunate to have WomenCan, Ashburton Country Women's Association and Avalon Centre partner with our club for this event. The Mayor of Stonnington, Jami Klisaris open our Sleeping out Rough Night and reminded us in her opening speech of the numbers of people who are forced to sleep out every night across Melbourne.

Sleepers and friends dined on sandwiches and home made soup, made by club memebers, Kathryn O’Connor and Christina Bliss. In the very early hour of 6am on Saturday morning  the BBQ was cranked up with the very capable Chloe toasting sandwiches for our breakfast that went well with the coffees Trevor shouted us all.

This year the sleepers were joined by three 13-year-olds who very much care about and wanted to support those less fortunate than themselves. Truly inspiring and am sure will go on to do good in our world.

With the generosity of our main sponsor, Centennial Living, the local businesses - Riserva Wines, On the Park Hair and Beauty, local cafe's and club members all contributing to the night, plous all our sleepers and their sponsors,we raised in total $18,390.50.

To our partners, sponsors, donors, sleepers and supporters a very big thank you.

Thank you to Carnegie Hire for donating the toilets for the night. Very much appreciated Hein Otten.
