Rotary Chadstone/East Malvern is leading 17 Rotary Clubs from 10 Rotary Districts around the globe to provide a safe and dignified space for women to bathe themselves and their children as part of a Washroom Toilet construction project.

Club members Louise, Kathryn and Paul collected a range of mobility aids that were donated by a family. It turned out that the family member, Janis, was a Rotaractor many years ago – the Rotary contacts live on!!

Two main events to highlight in the coming weeks are the Melbourne Pollinator
Corridor Walk by Emma Cutting which has been deferred to a date to be advised, due
to the current lockdown, and, the celebration of Environment Day with an
‘Environment Area of Focus Launch’ on 4 June 2021 as detailed in this newsletter.
EPS pollutes Yarra River
Summary of a presentation by the Yarra Riverkeeper Dr. Karin Tragear to Environmental Sustainability - Rotary Action Group (ESRAG):
During research undertaken by Yarra Riverkeepers in September-October 2019 and checked in January 2020, they have identified that polystyrene particularly EPS is the predominant polluter in the Yarra with both large pieces and microplastics.
Drinking Water to School Children in Vanuatu

Another highly successful International project that is almost complete - the provision of drinking water for schools in Vanuatu thanks Rotary Chadstone/East Malvern.

Drinking Water for over 5,000 people

In collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Upper Northern Beaches (Sydney) and Paddington (Brisbane), Chadstone/East Malvern are about to embark on installing 60 water bores across six villages in Cambodia to provide drinking water to over 5000 people. People who currently drink water from infected ponds or roadside rain pools.
